ESDEG’s Supplementary Schools provide weekly academic support in Maths, English and
Science to help underachieving children improve their performance, confidence, and self-
esteem.
Through one-to-one and small group sessions, led by qualified tutors and dedicated
volunteers, students typically advance by at least one academic level. Progress is monitored
through regular assessments and feedback from parents and schools.
Each year the programme supports over 200 children, helping them improve academically
while building confidence, motivation, and positive attitudes toward learning. All staff and
volunteers are DBS-checked, ensuring a safe and supportive environment for every child.
Our year-round mentoring initiative supports children and young people by creating positive environments at home, school, and within the community.
Through consistent mentorship, we help young people develop:
● confidence and self-esteem
● emotional resilience
● leadership and decision-making skills
● improved educational outcomes
The programme focuses on early intervention, helping prevent involvement in risky behaviours such as crime, gangs, and substance misuse.
Working closely with schools, our culturally aware mentors support disadvantaged and at-risk youth while improving their mental health and aspirations.
We help families access the right schools, apply for EHCPs, secure benefits, arrange care, and more. Our team also provides advocacy at review meetings and tribunals.
Weekly Saturday sessions offer fun, inclusive activities for SEND children while giving parents a chance to rest and recharge.
From training and workshops to weekly coffee mornings, we equip parents with the tools and support they need to navigate the SEND system confidently.
We organise family-friendly outings that promote social interaction and enjoyment in a safe, supportive setting.

● teamwork and leadership
We are especially committed to encouraging girls and young women to pursue careers in STEM, helping break down gender barriers in technology and science.
