Our ESOL Classes go hand in hand with our supplementary schooling project, meaning many of our English students are the parents or guardians of our young tutees. Many of these adults have very limited or no command of spoken English, disadvantaging them in their daily lives as well as limiting their ability to support their children in education.
Teaching is focussed on basic English skills and on the skills needed to support children’s education and liaise positively with their children’s mainstream schools. We use the teaching English as a springboard for parents to address wider issues in their lives, for example, employment, health, housing, and access to services.
